Growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Spencer was taught the value of hard work, being kind, and taking care of his neighbors. From the time he was tall enough to push a mower, he and his dad would spend the weekends mowing the yards of senior citizens.
After graduating from Shawnee High School, Spencer earned his Bachelor's degree in public relations from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master's in writing from Oklahoma City University. After graduation, Spencer also received his certification for Sustainable Urban Development.
Since graduating from OCU, he spent six years in the Office of Governor Brad Henry, four of them as his Special Assistant. In this role, he learned how to work with diverse groups from all levels of government, gain a strong understanding of public policy, and the impact our government can have across the state. After Gov. Henry's tenure, he joined Henry/Adams Companies, a business development firm, as well as becoming a merchandising manager for one of the big box home improvement stores where he manages over 200 employees across Oklahoma.
Spencer and his wife Carri have 3 children, Sawyer, Holli, & Camilla. As a father, Spencer is dedicated to teaching his family the values his parents taught him. Spencer has been named 40 under 40 by numerous Oklahoma publications for his dedication to Oklahoma. In his free time, he enjoys stand-up comedy, Thunder basketball, reading, and taking his kids fishing.
